Detailed programe 

 

Day 1                    Arrive Kolkata

Arrive Kolkata by international flight. Welcome and transfer to hotel. Hotel check-in time 1400 hour. Overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 2                    In Kolkata

Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning visit Victoria Memorial (closed on Monday).  It is a massive domed building of white marble from Rajasthan.  It was inaugurated in 1921 by the Prince of Wales (later, briefly, Edward VIII).  It houses a collection of Victoria memorabilia and also history related objects and documents on Bengal. Continue on to one of the largest and most impressive museums in India, the Indian Museum (Closed on Monday), founded in 1814 on the basis of the collection of the Asiatic society. It has an impressive archaeology and sculpture department with a superb collection of Gandharan Buddhist art, as well as works from Khajuraho, Bharat and many other important sites. Later visit Kalighat Kali Temple, dedicated to Goddess Kali.

 

Afternoon, excursion to Kumartuli to See Kolkata Durga Idols Being Made.

The settlement of Kumartuli, meaning “potter locality” (Kumar = potter. Tuli = locality), is over 300 years old.

The narrow maze of lanes and alleyways team with humanity, and gods and goddesses in various states of creation. Wandering through them, and seeing the artists at work, reveals a fascinating world within a world right in front of you. Overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 3                    Kolkata – Vivada Jetty, Millennium Park – Embarkation: (For Sundarban River Cruise)
After early breakfast at the hotel, in time transfer to Vivada Jetty, Millennium Park, embarkation and the beginning of the cruise. 

Upon arrival welcome drinks will be served and check-in.  

 

Vessel will sail at 10:00 hour. You can enjoy the indoor games and board games. Lunch onboard. After 8 hours long cruise vessel will reach at the Gate way of Sunderban i.e. Namkhana, Vessel will drop the anchor for the night. Evening cultural entertainment programe performances with local artists. on board. Dinner and overnight onboard.

 

Day 4                     Onboard Vivada Cruise at Sunderban

After breakfast onboard, morning visit to Bony Camp (Tallest watch tower in the Sunderban) also a tiger prone area. Later enjoy creek ride through the thick mangrove forest by a small boat.

Return to vessel for lunch.

 

This afternoon visit Saptamkhi river, followed by visit to Bhagabatpur crocodile project – famous for Estuarine crocodiles. Vessel will drop the anchor for the night in a suitable palace. Dinner and overnight onboard.

 

Day 5                     Sundarban – Kolkata Vivada Jetty, Millennium Park – Disembarkation

Morning vessel will start sailing back towards Kolkata.

Breakfast & Lunch onboard.

Arrive Kolkata Vivada Jetty around 1600 hour, and then transfer to your hotel on the way short orientation tour of local bazaars. Overnight stay at the hotel.

 

Day 6                    Kolkata– Guwahati by Flight

Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning in time transfer to airport to board flight for Guwahati. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel.

This afternoon proceed for orientation tour of Guwahati visiting few temples. Overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 7                    Guwahati – Kaziranga (Approximately 5 hours drive)

Breakfast at hotel.

Morning drive to Kaziranga National Park en route visiting Sualkuchi.

 

Sualkuchi – the silk village of Assam which is situated on the north bank of the river Brahmaputra. The village presents ample opportunities to experience the rich history and local culture. You can see the whole process of manufacturing of Assamese silk and Muga Silk. Then drive to Hajo. Hajo, a place where three religions meet – Hinduism, Islam and Buddhism. Stop at Hajo for sometime and visit the Hayagriva Madhava Temple, a place of worship for both Buddist and Hindu.From here drive up a hill to a sacred religious place of  the Muslims, known as Poa Mecca. This mosque was  built after Pir Giasuddin Aulia and is held that it has one-fourth sanctity of Mecca and so it is known as Poa-Mecca. (Drive from Guwahati to Sualkuchi -35 kms /1 hour – Hajo–15 kms)

 

Continue drive to Kaziranga National Park, a paradise for greater Indian one horned Rhinoceros as well as a home to Elephants, tigers, water buffaloes and many species of birds. Upon arrival check-in at the resort.  Dinner & Overnight at the resort.

 

Day 8                    In Kaziranga

Breakfast at hotel.

We will have an early morning exploration of the park by an elephant ride. Apart from the rhino, other animals that you may encounter in the safari are hog deer, swamp deer, wild water buffalos, elephants – and if you are lucky, even tiger. Kaziranga is also home to pelicans, storks and darters – as there are numerous water bodies to be encountered inside the Park. With a variety of migratory and resident birds darting from tree to tree, the safari in Kaziranga will offer you an opportunity to observe these avian varieties – along with their mammalian counterparts – very closely. We will return to the resort for breakfast. After breakfast go for jeep safari inside the park. Post lunch, we will again venture into the park for a Jeep safari. 

 

Lunch, dinner and overnight stay at the resort in Kaziranga.

 

Day 9                    Kaziranga – Guwahati (Approximately 5 hour)

                              Guwahati – Delhi – by flight.

After breakfast drive to Guwahati airport to connect flight for Delhi.   Meeting & assistance upon arrival & check-in at the hotel.  Overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 10                 Delhi –Agra – Delhi (Approximately 4 hours one way)

Breakfast at hotel.

Same day excursion to Agra visiting the world famous Taj Mahal built by Shah Jahan in 1560 in memory of his queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. This architectural marvel is a perfectly proportioned masterpiece fashioned from white marble that stands testimony to the skill of 20,000 craftsmen brought together from Persia, Turkey, France and Italy and who took 17 year to complete this ‘ Love Poem in Marble’. (Taj Mahal remains closed on Friday).

 

Continue visit the Agra fort – behind its forbidding red sandstone battlements lie palaces that tell the story of the Moghul Empire. The most impressive part of the Fort are the Dewan-e-Am, where the Emperor sat on his throne to dispense to his subjects, and the Dewan-e-Khas where he received foreign dignitaries.

 

Later this afternoon return back to Delhi, upon assistance to board flight for onward destination.  (No accommodation envisaged in Delhi)

 

Day 11                 Depart Delhi
